If you work in the health and social care sector, it is likely you will be required to move or handle people as part of your role. Often this will involve the use of specialist equipment such as hoists, slings and other transporting aids. It is important that you carry out moving and handling safely to prevent the risk of injuries to yourself and others.
Who is the course for?

This course is suitable for anybody who has direct involvement in Moving and Handling of People within a Health and Social Care setting. Such as working in a care home, nursing home, day center, home care setting, hospice or if you are a private care worker.

This course is a hands on course, please call us to discuss any amendments which maybe required as we can tailor it to meet the needs of you and your Service Users.

What is Moving and Handling of People?

In the past, Moving and Handling of People has often been referred to as just Manual Handling, however it is now known as Moving and Handling of People to differentiate between the movement of objects and people.
Our Moving and Handling of People course is a one day course.

What will I Learn?

The trainer will give an overview of the law, including common injuries and risk assessments. the main objective of the course will be to developing the key principles of Safe Handling of People. To ensure your safety and that of your service user to adhered to at all times.
The course will be a mix of theory based learning, demonstrations and hands on practical learning.

Do you offer a refresher course?

Yes! If you have previously attended a Moving and Handling training course and looking to refresh your knowledge and skills then you can attend our 1/2 a day refresher course.

It is recommended that all Health Care workers attend an annual Moving and Handling of people training course to ensure that their skills are up-to-date to reduce the risk of injury.

How long are Moving and Handling courses certificated for?

Once the full day course has been successfully completed, you will be presented with a certificate which will last for 1 year. It is recommended that a refresher course is to be attended each year after, the refresher course is a 1/2 day course.
