This course is designed to give the confidence and skill to use first aid in a real life situation such as an incident or accident in the workplace.
What Will I Learn?
Who is the course for?
The Emergency First Aid at Work course is designed for people who may need to provide first aid to someone who is injured or becomes unwell in a low risk workplace. Such as an office space, retail or somewhere which typically has between 25-50 workers. If your workplace has more than 50 employees, the 3-day First Aid at Work course should be considered.
How many First Aiders should your work place have?
Low-Risk Workplaces such as small organisations will need to have at least one appointed First Aider at all times. If your work place has fewer than 25 employees, at least one appointed person should be present at all times. For work places with 25-50 employees, one First Aider should be trained in Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) and if your work place has more than 50 employees, at least one First Aider trained in First Aid at Work (FAW 3 day course) is considered best practice.
High-Risk Workplaces such as a construction site or a factory for example, will need an appointed First Aider for every 50 employees. They will need to be trained in Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) or First Aid at Work (FAW) depending on the type of injuries which could occur. If the workplace has more than 50 employees, a trained person in First Aid at Work (FAW) should be present.
How long will the course take?
The Emergency First Aid at Work course required 6 hours of guided learning, which will be delivered in one day unless an alternative arrangement has been discussed and agreed. Our courses generally run from 9:30am – 5pm, however this can be delivered at times to suit your shift patterns or peak working period.
What else should I know?
To ensure you get the most effective learning experience, learners must be physically able to participate. We limit group sizes to 6 attendees to provide the best learning experience for all.
On successful completion of the course, the participant will receive an Emergency First Aid at Work (level 2) certificate which is valid for three years. This course meets the requirements specified by the Health and Safety First Aid Regulations 1981.
